Ok, here i am finally doing what i was keeping in mind for some time - writing about The Conceal. The Conceal is a natural continuation of Flood Peak expanded to become a five-piece, so in case you missed it, it's time to fill the gap.



Endless River | Stunted Prayer contains four reworked songs out of five from Filling Flasks and.. let's count.. six new ones. The reworked versions sound slower, with more stress on heaviness and anguish, but not without rocking impression. New songs are also not just to fill in the space, they are at least as good, if not better as the previously heard. From the very Final Song which is actually the first one, and up to The Waiting these sounds control your feelings and consciousness. And even if you listen to any random song, it will be repeated in your mind again and again. That's what i like.



There is also a great digital layout with lyrics and art included and some beautiful band videos. The visual aspect of The Conceal work is another thing to be pleased with. It perfectly reflects the essence of the project. Looks like these guys founded something outstanding. Dark and heavy shit-rock band with cool past, splendid present and bright future. And whatever you call it, that is still what it is.

The long awaited record is finally here. After the self-titled album and split with The Dawn bastards ERT brings us the second full-lenght. Like the first one this sounds strong and aggressive but some more sad. Probably because of the last song featuring Jarboe. And yeah, they also had a song on the We Fucked Up Our Lives compilation with a bunch of other cool artists. If you're not familiar with the band i strongly recommend you to give them a listen. That's a real masterpiece. The debut record from San Hose based Flood Peak. With Mike McClatchey on guitar who was also in Apiary ( Clearing Autumn Skies before and Early Graves after ) they sound really heavy. I'd say it's like taking part in the bulldozer race where you have to slam the others while pushing gas to the floor, feeling the destructive power and enjoying the speed at the same time. Hope you got it. Record production reminds me of Lighthouse ( their album's here ) but it has more of that Motorhead feel. I didn't listen to it when being drunk but this sounds great anyways. Check the teaser below and you'll surely want to get Filling Flasks immediately.

I remember listening to the latest Daughters album and not loving it at all. Didn't understand what was so good  about it. And shit, how i love the latest from TAWFAWW! Can't get enough of it. Since the more chaotic self-titled to crazy The Monroe Transfer ( which was not my thing haha ) and now to this noisy blues or something they still have their own sound. Awesome! Think i should give Daughters one more try.

The fact that each of the ten tracks has something new to offer is the true story of this record. While Take A Worm’s idea of accessible music is enough to make the more casual listener cower behind the sofa, after all this record is anything other than conventional, there’s much going on here to suggest that this lot may just have opened plenty of doors for themselves. More to the point, for those who crave a sound that’s fresh, exciting and totally original, ‘TAWFAWW’ is, without a doubt, the album for you.

Euglena - An Anxious Surface

I've been meaning to post this long ago and now came across them on bandcamp so here it is. The debut record of St-Petersburg based experimental band influenced by some "post-" genre acts like I Pilot Dæmon, Time To Burn, Sika Redem, Breach and so on. The artwork is done by IPD singer Romain Barbot ( http://www.iamsailor.com/ ). For now Euglena is planning a 3-way split with French band As We Draw and Hexis from Denmark. An Anxious Surface ep is definitely one of the best Russian releases in 2010.

Amazing record. Enzuigiri were Landmine before, i guess the name change was due to Derrick's ( one of band members ) leaving the city. Landmine demo is up for download at the blogspot link above. I don't know how to describe this stuff. Some kind of experimental hardcore. Yeah, spacey sound, interesting structures, screamy singing. The only bad thing is there are only three songs. Can't wait to hear more from these guys. The new vinyl record is supposed to be out soon, so keep an eye on them.

The in-ring debut from the Mid-Ohio Valley's Enzuigiri. Three tracks of riffy, "spacey" hardcore with lots of yelling about important subjects such as barges and being eaten by a planet. There's even some noise thrown in for some annoyance. This 7" is a kick to the medulla oblongata. Ring the bell.

Since i read the review of the album on AVERSIONLINE i was looking for it and thank you Ryonikis for sharing this. Same-Sex Dictator is band of just two dudes (Justin on bass and Lee on Drums) making some noise.  From Beneath You It Devours is a perfect album having all the psychedelic and spacey passages along with faster grinding parts and duo-vocals singing. It's hard to define the genre, i'd just call it an experimental piece of art.

Sludgy noise rock from Belgium. The sound is powerful, some specific instruments (like saxophone and cello, i guess) are used. There's a cool review by Max which i absolutely agree with, here is a part of it:

 Drums are for parades hail from Belgium, and they are the newest noisy and hammering explosion. Think The Melvins, think Big Business, think Queens of the Stone Age in an experimental vibe and you know what you got in your front garden. In 2008 the band already released a 10" and this is their first full-length release.

And thats what Martijn said about Master at massmovement.co.uk:

It leans heavily towards the massiveness of Black Sabbath, Kyuss and Mastodon, but their own twists take it, quite literally, out of this world.

I don't know what to say about this album. Can't find the words. It's simply amazing. It's hard to classify the one. It's instrumental. It was named the best album of the month at viceland.com. What else... i don't know.. You must give it a listen!

However, they were really unique, their style is hard to define, guess it's some strange kind of post-hardcore.. The vocalist does actually sing as a bird. In The Final Analysis were a band from Lille. Solstice sounds heavy, chaotic and sludgy at the same time. They are compared to Neurosis,old Cult Of Luna, Knut, old Shora, Buried Inside. For me they sound more like The March I've uploaded before. I'm not sure if the band still exists, but don't think so.

Battle of Mice was an all-star band, think you've heard about them. They are now disbanded but make sure to check other projects that members are involved in. A Day Of Nights is one of the best records ever made.
