The Gift - Mostly In Sickness

The Gift is a 3-piece from Washington, DC who combine sweet melodies with some crushing and searing intensity. Tempo in The Gift’s music ranges from a slow dark lurch to intense bursts.

Once i came across The Gift somehow and followed to their bandcamp page. There was 2010 demo which i liked from the very first listen and downloaded immediately. I was really impressed. Having spent about several months listening to that demo from time to time i decided to check back their site.. and hell yeah, they've got the full-lenght! Mostly In Sickness sounds dirty, gloomy and quite depressive. At the LJ it's written "We play dark hardcore grunge punk rock about grief, evisceration, etc etc etc." and that "funeral grunge" tag seems to be quite exact genre definition. The Gift members played in a numerous bands before and since i enjoyed what i've heard (special thanks to Beck for her singing) i learned more about them and found many interesting things..
